Beginning in September 2017, Kiril Stankow worked for two seasons as the Kapellmeister and musical assistant to the chief conductor at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich. There he performed repertoire such as Donizetti’s “Maria Stuarda”, Humperdinck’s “Hänsel und Gretel“, and Lortzing’s “Der Wildschütz“. This season he will debut with the Deutsche Philharmonie Merck and the Manila Symphony Orchestra, and will have concerts with the Montenegrin Symphony Orchestra and the Neue Philharmonie München. In Summer 2018 he had his debut with the Norddeutsche Orchesterakademie at the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. In early 2019, he guest-conducted the premiere of Jeffrey Ching’s chamber opera, “The True Story of King Kong“, at the Theater Magdeburg.
Kiril Stankow has conducted concerts with the MDR Symphony Orchestra, the philharmonic orchestras of Neubrandenburg, Jena, Freiberg, and the Orchestre National de Lorraine. As an opera conductor he has performed at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz Munich, the Theater Magdeburg, and the Nationaltheater Mannheim. In 2013, Stankow attracted international attention for the first time - when he finished second after four rounds in the renowned conducting competition in Besançon, conducting the Orchestre National de Lorraine.
Kiril Stankow holds scholarships from the Richard-Wagner-Gesellschaft and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
